Why? I have 3 valve amps... they're too loud so I don't play them much.vinylguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 5:46 pmIf it werent for the fact that you are the Admin, surely you would get banned for that statement ?Bg wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 5:04 pmDoes anyone really care about the sound of their guitar, once the drummer kicks in?
Only bedroom musicians care about valves.... and then all they do is complain they're too loud and try and find 'devices' to add on that makes them less loud but they could have just gone digital in the first place, because any of that warmth and depth and feel has been killed because you've reduced the volume and you've put it into something digital or solid state.
YMMV
I gigged with a 120 watt valve amp once. Switched to 7 watts. I gigged with a JTM45 (the forum bike) cranked at the mission bay bluesfest - outdoors to a capacity crowd.
Couldn't hear anything but the foldback in both.
As for office/bedroom volumes - I just crank up the monitors or PA, or if I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll warm up the valves if the missus has gone out.
If you can't accept valves are going to die through lack of tooling etc, you're going to have nothing, like smokers - they're just dieing out.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

He has a point... I also like guitar synths, steinbergers, bass guitars and the 21st Century (ok some bits more than others)robthemac wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 5:54 pmWhy?vinylguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 5:46 pmIf it werent for the fact that you are the Admin, surely you would get banned for that statement ?Bg wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 5:04 pm

well, you'd know... your missus reckons you're like a blow up man, in need of a puncture repair kit. She keeps blowing until she's ran out of air and still you won't inflate.

Don't these posts belong in the TM Madness thread?

Used to see the neighbourhood gang lads packed into the early 90's Mercedes Sedan. Its plate (not sure if it was a PP) read GAY6. Took them a while to cottin onto it. The old lady up the street had a nice new Hyundai or someething like that snd its plate was GAY5.

Not enough sag or squish in the bottom end.
