Looking at those graphs, the first one, the 47nf looks like what my ears are hearing. What it doesn't represent is the intensity with which the sound cuts through a band mix. Normally, this is considered desirable but this amp proves it's possible to have too much of a good thing.
Actually, this might be the perfect amp for your Norlin era mud pie Lester.
It's quite enthusiastic with a Tele, isn't it?
You mean ‘chainsaw’?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Gave it a Tung Sol 12AX7 and an old Philips 6V6. There's definitely some sweet spots to be found. Does a crystalline clean tone with a thumpy bottom and the fairly maxed out tone is still well defined but with a tweedy grit.
It's all upper mids and presence; insists it wants to be a gig amp so I'll give it a workout with the band tomorrow.
Do you know what the actual 6V6 there is in it now?
Below the plate dissipations of your amp with either a 6V6 selected or a 6V6GT. The plate dissipation on the 6V6 is way too high when using Robinette's calculators. Note, actual values used measured when amp was warm, in high power mode with no input signal.

Realised this morning tone pot is 1M so I will put a 1M resistor in parallel with it to bring it down to about 500KOhm.

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
When I had my special 6 head, I had it modified by Alan at Anvil Amps according to the info in this Telecaster forum thread.
The mods enabled swapping a 6V6 to a 6L6. you also had to plug the speaker into a different Ohm output to compensate.
The link is quite a long read but full of useful info by those who have already done the research & mods.

I have a 6L6 amp. What I'm wanting is a sweet 6V6 amp.

The tone of your voice is making me nervous.
No, I have no idea what glass is in it now.

its shortly to be the exploding kind....
I'll ship it to Ukraine then.
