Hi I recently brought a jansen barbarian amp turned it on and it started smoking from the board right next to the transformer can any one out there tell me anything about this amp is it any good or how to fix it anything really as there is nothing online at all about these amps

Could well be a filter cap, or burned out resistor. Don't know much about the model, but should be fixable. Is it a tube amp? Jansen tube amps are pretty well liked and respected.

I don't know how do you tell I know nothing about them at all brought for my son to surprise him but no joy

Dodgy diode bridge? Was it dusty? That's a rare model. 100w right?
My uncle worked there when they were in Grey Lynn. I can phone him and ask about them. I remember them being similar looking to the Gladiator.

Pretty sure that’s a solid state amp. Sounds like one of output transistors is shorted. Can you post photos?
