Tweed has dropped from 435v down to 410v. I got some crackling sounds a couple of times while playing, so thats why I did the quick service, cleaned all the pots and sockets etc. It was ok for a while but has just done it again, I expect its just a power valve as it continued after I turned the Master down, they look like they are probably the originals so will be due for a change.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

I really don't like that to be honest, might as well plug into my interface and use a plugin :(

I've had four different Mesas and had reasons for moving them on.

Interested whether you keep getting rid of them because they aren't quite what you want.
I just get bored and want something different, happens to all my gear eventually
I hear ya.

Fuckin' love that Tele. Lonestar's a cool amp too.

I hope you really enjoy this amp. I know I have. And yeah, Mesa must make the chassis from recycled neutron stars because it weight a metric ****-tonne.
Quoted For Truth. My Mesa Mk IVa 1x12 combo weighs something like 43kg. The older I get, the less I can move it! Yes, I know it comes with big fancy wheels that you can clip in - but that doesn’t help you up/down stairs, into cars etc. It would be interesting to know why their amps are just so ****ing heavy!

Europe had a mix of 220v and 240v so a few years back in 1980 they standardised on 230v for the manufacture of appliances. The actual voltages at the wall didn't really changed much, although they are moving slowly towards the 230v standard.

The new standard stipulates a nominal 230 V, and the allowable voltage to the customer's point of supply is, as mentioned, +10% to –6%. However, the preferred operating range is +6% to –2%. (244 V to 225 V).

It varies throughout the country but its usually very close to 240v here in NZ despite the published 230v "nominal" spec.

Interesting, I wonder how many tube amps in NZ are affected by this? I’d guess there’s a lot. As you mention above, 10V difference at the mains equates to significantly more at the tubes.

When I sold a UK purchased amp last year at least one bloke was concerned that it said 'Export Model 240v'. Didn't occur to me that it might matter or make any difference.
