Well worth the three gallons of wine I'd say
I need 3 gallons before I get behind the stapler, its vicious once the compressor is turned on.
Surely JB can't add inuendo to that. Surely.
That's what she said?

Whoa whoa whoa!
So after working for 30hrs and being on call overnight Sunday night I thought it was a good idea to install the new OT at about 9pm.last night.
All was going well (save a few solder burns). I was fastidious to match the wires as they were (sort from the new 8ohm tap wire change. )
When I fired her up I got the death squeel of all death squeels.
Fresher mind this morning and a late start for work plus a little advice from a kindly forum member drew me to the conclusion that the colour coding must be opposite and I'd wired the blue /brown wires to v5 and v6 opposite.
Quick bit of soldering and she's all sorted.
Now....

Oh man...it's actually a big difference. I'm getting a much better bass response, some of the less pleasant shrill breakup has gone . There is also more volume. The old tranny did look pretty knchered when I took her out (JB) so I'm thinking 60yrs of service had seen her ready for retirement (JB).

So stoked I did this upgrade. For anyone with a vintage amp that is wondering about it I'd say go for it. Easy job and can make a big difference. Tempted to gig this on Sunday....
