Almost my birthday why not get a NAD

Post by jeremyb »

Trying to downsize my rig a tad, the Katana head and 2x12 was just too much for the bedroom, so I picked this up today for a sharp price, Vox AC10C1, while its not a Dumble clone it will tide me over until I can justify the expense for how little I actually play

I had a short play and it sounds incredible, I miss the little Vox AC4 I had, it was such a great sounding amp, and this is that on steroids (with reverb), am super stoked with it!!

I reckon it sounds significantly better than my old AC15 did, even after swapping tubes and speaker... and it weighs half as much, epic.

Good to hear a review of the AC10.
What size speaker? I assume 10" just due to the overall size?
Nothing to see here.

Yup! 10" Celestion VX10, actually a cracker sounding speaker from my experience with the AC4C1 I had, no need to swap that out!

Its a wee pearler, lightweight grab and go rig, strat + lead + ac10, job done!

Congrats man. Stellar amps for sure.
I'm gassing for a couple of of Pathfinders to build a home stereo rig and to run wet/dry/wet with my L5t when things need to get a little silly. Underated amps in my book.

I've got an ac4hw with an english blue I could be tempted to part with if ya needed to scratch that itch in the future  but I guess that's the whole point of the ac10.

If you think a Katana (which has very low watt options) is too much then any Dumble clone is going to be an issue at home.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Nice, the AC10 is a great amp. We have one at my shop and it makes every guitar sound awesome.

That rich harmonic content, I do seem to keep coming back to Vox amps...

They certainly have their own vibe going on. There's a tb35 for sale on TM currently. Would love a schwang on that. 6l6 bottles from memory, and a huge sidestep from tradition for vox.

For some reason I haven't always got on with them so well. I found some of the early Chinese ones pretty harsh and ear bleedy. But I really like the AC10. I nearly got one when I got the Cub 12 but chose the Cub cos it was slightly cheaper, lighter, and had a bit more gain on tap. But not always sure I made the right choice. Dunno I like them both. If I didn't have the Maz I would have chosen the Vox. The Cub for me is more just for a light grab n go no pedals required option.

No, that's your fingers.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
