Was considering buying the Airstep controller: https://xsonicaudio.com/pages/airstep but thought there must be DIY options out there... and found this: https://github.com/jamesguitar3/sparkpal might save some coin and make something myself!

Interested to see what you think, worth installing the new firmware, I'm loving the Dumble ODS amp!

I've built one based on an old switcher I was using to control Helix Native on the PC. I've got 10 buttons, so should be able to have dedicated preset and pedal on/off buttons too.

I added another input for an expression pedal so hope to hook that up soon ... but I noticed fast updates from the amp (like when you move the physical amp knobs) often cause the ESP32 to crash and reboot - so will probably need to fix that first.

I also modded my drill battery + charger to make the amp run off that. Seems to get at least 6 hrs off a full charge.

...ah I tell a bit of a lie. The one I built is based on this code:
https://github.com/happyhappysundays/SparkBox

I'm using a TTGO T18 which has a built in 18650 battery holder & charger. Some of the pin mappings were a bit different for the 16x2 I2C LCD as well - so working through that at the moment.

I'm a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I'm a bit deaf obviously and find it a little bit quiet, even through headphones. My DT770's are 250ohm ones though so that could be killing a bit of volume.
I'm finding the whole thing a bit too bassy for music playback :(
I've noticed really hard compression with high gain tones, when there is no compression on - this is on full volume through headphones.

I'll try a bit longer else, I'll flick it off on ebay and look for something else maybe.

Get the latest firmware update on there, it deals with the overly bassyness of it :-)

And the noise gate can be overwhelming at stock settings probably causing the compression you’re noticing, pays to dial it back or even turn it off.

Late a t firmware installed, and no noise gate turned on. The compression is sort of a slow sine wave. It's weird

Mine will be going into MIQ with me, I spose it will be headphone only. But at least I'll finally get some time with it as my day is spent either sorting things out for my mum or in the pub escaping from everything. Nights I work through till 1am and then bed, start all over again.

not much left to sort thank tamaki.
