65Amps - show 'em

Post by GrantB »

Let's see what 65Amps we still have in the family! Show 'em if you got 'em!

The Marquee and Tupelo ready to be pounded by Les. Huge sounding amps. The Tupelo (6V6, solid state rectifier) remains my go to amp. Chimey, warm, crunchy, heaps of bottom end but no boom...love it. The only issue being it sounds best with JJ's and hate those tubes., They rattle like a snake and are hit and miss in terms of longevity or even quality out of the box.

The Marquee is just a massive silly AC30/DC30 that slays (4x EL84 with GZ34 rectifier). I'll never use it live unless I can tame the volume without destroying the beautiful tone. This is my second one of these. The half power switch takes from 130dB to 129dB.

That's one quieter...That's good!
Never had the pleasure of joining the 65 family.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

So, perfect for a bedroom practice amp.

I quite liked the London Pro I had, but it’s long gone now.

No, and interestingly it didn’t sound as good as my combo, even through the combo speaker.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

Too radical. You younger people are more open minded with that sort of thing.
