Victory Duchess V4 pedal / amp
Victory Amps Dutchess V4. Basically their tube preamp pedal with reverb and tremolo, but with an added SS power amp.
I'd like to try one!

Re: Victory Duchess V4 pedal / amp
Funny, when Marshall put a tube pre-amp in their SS combo and called it a Valvestate, it was the height of uncool, but these guys put an SS power amp into their tube preamp and it’s boutique and interesting?
Does look cool though

Fender did that too, didn't they? Or was that the other way around, with tube power amp?jimi wrote:Funny, when Marshall put a tube pre-amp in their SS combo and called it a Valvestate, it was the height of uncool, but these guys put an SS power amp into their tube preamp and it’s boutique and interesting?

They did high gain metal pretty well, especially considering what else was (or rather wasn't) on the market at the time.robthemac wrote:Those Valvestate amps did sound pretty awful, to be fair.
If you weren't a high gain metal guy then fair enough, though.

Yeah, I perhaps wasn't the target market.Danger Mouse wrote:

I was thinking that! It doesn't matter as long as it sounds good of course. Plus the size is pretty handy.jimi wrote:Funny, when Marshall put a tube pre-amp in their SS combo and called it a Valvestate, it was the height of uncool, but these guys put an SS power amp into their tube preamp and it’s boutique and interesting?

I gigged one. Was glad of the reduced weight but recall it'd produce random squeals. Think I replaced it under warranty before giving up and buying a GK250ML.robthemac wrote:Those Valvestate amps did sound pretty awful, to be fair.

Legit decent high gain tones. The 8100 head they used to do did some phenomenal chainsaw / Corgan tones. Found one for $200 in a Dollar Dealers in the mid 00's that was my backup head for about 2 years.

Looks a great bit of kit, spendy though. Martin sure does put out some high quality gear that looks as good as it sounds
I'm seriously thinking of buying the Victory Countess pedal, just figuring out whether it's better to buy it through Andertons or here from Sound Nations
