If you missed it, I moved my Helix LT with usb plugged in and there was a massive burst of white noise - first and last time its happened - but it took out the tweeter horn drivers in both my headrush FrFr's!
God they sound shit without high end
Did a bit of research and the prices of the original ones were higher than a decent replacement and apparently they go on a regular basis.
So enter a decent replacement, in fact a very decent upgrade.... JBL Selenium 202. Bought before gst cut off date, so ended up being $200 ish...
A hand shandy a speaker
And fuck me, they are a step in the right direction, I loved these before but now Hurrrumph.... small upgrade but well worth it.
Also if they get fried, replacement diaphragms are relatively cheap.
Replacing the originals would have cost more and they don't do diaphragm kits.... so about 70 bucks each every time.... and they are not reliable.
Anyway pics....

Re: NDD - New Driver Day
original no brand on the right above, tightened so much I bent the fins trying to unscrew the bugger.
New JBL weighs about twice as much and fits perfectly. A damn good upgrade. I always found these a bit boomy but I reckon because tweets weren't loud enough, now they're way better balanced.
Be tempted to fit an L-Pad for them though just so I can trim them to my shoddy hearing.

So tempted to upgrade the main drivers now, but only if I'm sure I'm going to keep them - negative equity
