Just dropped the Pro Reverb off to Guy to get looked at.
Good news was the transformers seemed to test ok to him, the power valves were miles apart from each other and not even close to a matched pair and looked like could be the main cause of the issue. He is installing some Sprauge Atoms for the main caps and he suggested leaving the blue caps as they are probably fine. All the other caps will be replaced though.
Still it’s going to be $200 worth or tubes, $180 in labour plus the Caps! Will be a $500 at least by looks.
Let’s hope this amp is worth it!

He also mentioned he’s never seen another Pro Reverb in NZ.
Not sure if that means it’s really rare and a good find or if everyone just preferred different amps and that’s still the case.

Yes the Pro is a reasonably rare beast..............just about every silverface I've seen over the decades has been a Twin.
Doin' that scrapyard thing.

There's been a Blackface one appear here and I think I've heard of another one as well. The guy who wrote 'The Fender Amp' book rates them 'the best Strat amp ever made'.
But I guess that's subjective.
Something else I remember from that book is just because the cosmetics changed to Silverface, doesn't mean the circuit changed. Some did, others did later . Make sure you check which circuit you have. Should be on the paper label with the valve icons on it.
From memory, if it's AB763, you've hit the jackpot.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

The amp lives! And it sounds great!
Caps replaced, tubes mostly replaced although turned out I had 2 Brimars and around 3 original RCA 12ax7s so we have left them in.

Wow, I like the "edge" to the tone on your demo. I hear that people love or hate the Utahs and I like what I'm hearing!

It starts to break up around 4 on the dial and sounds great. I added a bluesbreaker OD pedal half way through for some extra grit.

Yeah some delay from
My HX Stomp and reverb from the amp.
The MV really makes the sound thinner so not sure I’ll use it, I’ve left the MV on full and just turned up the vib channel for this demo. It’s loud but not crazy loud.
