Re: NAD, Fender 59 Bassman ri LTD
One of my favourite models on the AX8 is the Bassman. It can go from near spanky clean, to chunky crunch and fat lead with just picking dynamic. I'd love to try out the real thing one day. And no, I'm not overly afraid I may want the real thing. Yes, it looks pretty damn sexy, but I also like the Vox-type sparkling cleans, and the Tucana crunch/lead. There's no way I'm going to own all those amps, so I'll stick to my models.

If I can house my FRFR in tweed and still have sensible access to its controls I'd definitely do it.Bg wrote:codedog wrote:One of my favourite models on the AX8 is the Bassman. Tell you what everything amp I've done lately just shows how good my little 5E3 is, a jewel that seems to get better with age.

I have not tried that model. I don't even know which one it is on the list. What do you like about it?calling card wrote:Tell you what everything amp I've done lately just shows how good my little 5E3 is, a jewel that seems to get better with age.

I'll bring one along on Saturday. The Casino sounds amazeballs through one, especially when it's cranked!codedog wrote:One of my favourite models on the AX8 is the Bassman. OMG! I'll be prepared and bring change of pants.kdawg2a wrote:I'll bring one along on Saturday. Actually, I have only been to 1 gearfest before. Yes, it was pretty loud, especially in that little room. I noticed quite a few of you guys had ear plugs. I still don't have one, not a hifi one anyway. I loath to bring industrial ones and ruin the experience of great tone. However, speaking of change of pants, I assume, without ear plugs, that's pretty much going in unprotected?

Re: NAD, Fender 59 Bassman ri LTD
It is (probably) the tweed deluxe. There are a few variants but the 5E3 is the most well known - its the first 'narrow panel' If you look at the cabs I've been doing, the top and bottom strips are quite narrow compared to the previous versions. Prior to that there were the TV fronts which were different again. I really need to build one of those!

I think kdawg is bringing along a Tweed Bassman... not a Deluxe. Still, I'm pretty safe since that's all sooooooo far above my spending cap.

The room on Saturday is huge so earplugs aren't really needed.codedog wrote:OMG! I'll be prepared and bring change of pants.kdawg2a wrote:I'll bring one along on Saturday.
