Weight doesn't bother me yet.
But I expect it might when I'm 90.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

At this stage I'll keep playing tubes with a bunch of pedals and a 412, taking 20 mins to set up each time. Perfectly happy doing so.
Maybe I'll get a Katana with a footswitch one day..
Having previously lugged a variety of bass heads/cabs in and out of venues / up and down plenty of staircases, I've no problem lugging some heavy kit about, but I reckon you'll find something like a Marshall 18w combo is a lot lighter than a head and quad, good tone for days, and loud enough for most situations. Plus you'll have room in your boot for a couple of PA foldbacks and a lighting rig.

Nah just make sure your amp is big enough to need two people to carry it and always go on the bottom when going up and down stairs.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

It's all relativity, own a fender twin then most of the others don't seem so heavy.

I was going to make a comment about there not being a Fender Quad Combo amp because it would be too heavy to carry, but a quick interweb check found that there is indeed a quad version of the Twin, from the 70s, and it is reputably very heavy!

Funny thing is, I'm enjoying the hybrid VR so much I'm wondering what a real AC30 would be like. Loud as hell I expect (at home that is).

I currently have a bid on for an AC30C2X, the one with the Alnico Blues. Fingers crossed I get it as I already have the Treble Booster lined up for it :shifty:

As an 18 year old living in Auckland's CBD, I could afford a home or a car. Not both. Simpler times.
