It's a handwired, homemade amp. So it depends on your perspective. It being near-unique may float your boat and make it awesome, particularly if you're into the tone. Plus it'll be repairable and will likely last 50+ years if you treat it right. It was also "made in NZ" if that's important to you.

On the other hand, its resale value will be unpredictable as there isn't brand recognition and you won't have a manufacturer to approach for info, or if things go wrong.

There aren't many sub-$1000 handwired amps around. You do have other tube amp options at the price - a used Fender blues junior/hotrod deluxe or Marshall DSL40 will cost about the same or cheaper.

Plexi style through 6V6, sounds interesting for sure. Did this builder design his own amps or is they sort of more obscure circuits from the cookbook?

Nothing special from a circuit perspective, it's a plexi bright channel input with no bright cap and a PPIVMV.

These just seem like such great value. Look at the workmanship. Master volume too.

You're spot on - the guts look pretty clean. I would be all over this one if it was a head only.

You can do a lot with that circuit topology too. Plexis, JCM800, Friedman BE etc stuff, Jose mods, countless other marshall derived stuff.. all built from that same circuit base. Converting to a head would be a cool idea.

I picked up a DJW Kea head from trademe a while ago. Its a JTM50 clone and sounds awesome. His amps seem to be really well priced and really well made.
