A work mate has found a few rare tapes from the 80s that he wants to convert to digital, but is concerned that they may have deteriorated to the point that he isn’t confident to put them into a cassette player.

Is there any place that specialises in preserving audio from cassette tapes?

I’m selling this that would work for that: https://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instrum ... 227950.htm

I have just bought a cassette unit off trademe so I can digitize a few family tapes. I have the interface and can burn CDs so I think the rest is easy - as long as the cassette unit doesn't chew my tapes.

We have a few cassettes that I realised we can't play any more. One of a band I was in during highschool, and a few others with long deceased family members' voices.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Just an update.

I picked up a cassette unit from trade me. Using my interface and logic I was able to transfer over some really special recordings and give them as a CD for Christmas.

I used logic to get rid of some of the tape hiss and a low hum that the recording had.

Very cool to be able to give somebody a recording of family members who have passed away.
