My experience of them was that they were pretty murky in the lower mids. That being said, they're good bang for your buck.
One thing that you might want to consider is that monitors with an 8" driver are pretty big and can overwhelm a small space. It might be worth looking at 6" ones instead. Just a thought.

Cheers. i jumped the gun and made a lowball offer on them, which hopefully he is insulted by and ignores
Better off with KRK 6" then you think? I am still using Logitech speakers. They are the good ones with the digital controller etc and sound good for movies and games, but not so for DAW.

I like those. The new Yamaha HS7s would be my pick these days and the Presonus ones would be worth a look too, but both are too new to find used.

Do 6" monitors produce bass accurately, or do they really need a sub? I figure for guitar music they should do OK, but if I muck about with FL Studio they might struggle?
p.s. Can't wait to hear the Mbox 3, Guitar Rig, Pro Tools, and my SG through some decent monitors. Even on the PC monitors the setup leaves POD for dead. It sounds awesome, especially the quality of the effects.

They're not great for sub frequencies (below 40Hz), but that shouldn't really be an issue for you.
