Wanted - Single Coil Size Humbucker

Post by rickenbackerkid »

Hi all,

Looking for a single coil- sized humbucker to drop in my strat. Currently have a Seymour Lil 59, but it's not quite working as I want, too vintagey in my particular Strat. It doesn't deliver the 'chunk' that you want on a big rock distortion although with the tone rolled back it does a nice AC/DC type gain.

So I'm looking for a something hotter and fatter, looking to get Toto and Def Leppard, G&R type fat modern rock sounds. Have at with with trades, sales, recommendations

Problem solved regardless of pickups.

Harley Benton HB35 plus, best $620 you’ll spend on a guitar!

Good experience here with Duncan Hot Rails and Dimarzio Fast Track 2.

Interestingly the Lil 59 was convincing enough in my tele so I never bothered swapping it with something higher output. But my amps are high gain.

Pretty sure the lil59 would work great with the tele which already has a pretty punchy feel. This particular Strat is a pretty sounding one, lovely delicate clean tone and needs far more balls to get the Def Leppard/Toto lead thing that I have been getting into
