When I was at uni I had a 1970s Ibanez 2630 much like the photo. Sold it to a guy after uni, apparently it had a hacksaw taken to it. Sacrilege.

Apparently the Super58s on the newer models are inferior to the original Super58s from the 70s and early 80s.

That's guitar folk for you. When is the new version of anything ever better than the old version of something? I bought an Ibanez Artist new in about '82 and don't recall the pickups being well-regarded (though I liked that they had three screws - a good idea that never caught-on).
