WTB: Vintage spec. rosewood Strat

Post by Molly »

I fancy trying one of those vintage-spec, rosewood fretboard Strats I've heard so much about. Is anybody selling one?

Thanks.

My Suhr antique classic would fit the bill. Or is that more than you have in mind?

Probably. Well, possibly. I've never got on with Suhr though. Skinny necks (well, not baseball bats) and stainless frets. Not to kick your tires, but flick me a pic or two if you get a chance.

That is nice, thanks, but big money for a AVRI.

The only chunky rosewood board Strat I've come across was an original L series from 63. Belonged to a farmer from Southland who'd bought it new.

Considering ordering a Boatneck from Warmoth which i can swap in when the mood strikes.

If you like chunky necks the 62 Hot Rod AVRI will make you happy. 9.5" radius though.

The Nocaster I've got coming has a monster D profile. I'd love to find that in a Strat but I guess they have to cater for majority tastes.

It bothered me too. Until I picked the Tele up and played it. Now I couldn't care less.

Fender American Vintage '56 Strat might fit the bill. Specs online say "V" but it's not, it's big and it's chunky. Vintage size frets but I did a re-fret for a client who asked for something slightly bigger on his one.

Would that be rosewood though? Not sure what year they started doing them?
