Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
Got a bit of single coil GAS and havent had anything fendery for a while.
Pretty tempted by a Squier Tele on bookface, but figured I should ask if theres anything cheap gathering dust round here. Not looking to spend more than $500.
Squier / Vintage / SX etc WHY ?

Re: Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
Well I do have a Vintage v2 Tele. The pots are stuffed and need replacing. So if you want to do the work. $160 plus freight. New strings as well I would suggest.

I've always liked the look of SX Liquid guitars, unique shape that's not for everyone though can be bought from Rondo for $190ish USD not sure what the shipping would be.

Nice looking website, though pretty much all of it is sold out. Great prices, but why do the tele's all have humbuckers...

I agree. I thought about trying one and routing for a JM/Jag trem unit.ReidySetGo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 1:16 pm I've always liked the look of SX Liquid guitars, unique shape that's not for everyone though can be bought from Rondo for $190ish USD not sure what the shipping would be.

Artist Grungemaster on TM.

You can get a new one for not much more though.
And a Squier Jag, but also nearly the same price as new.

They coil tap, and do a pretty good job of it. I got on of those blonde teles a few weeks ago and it's probably the best guitar under $400 I've had in years.

Re: Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
interesting how the strings line up perfectly on the Artist but that damn fender has the high e string hugging the edge of the neck.Starfire wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 1:59 pm Artist Grungemaster on TM.

Re: Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
Can probably fix that by moving the string a notch up at the bridge. My long sold Jag had that issue too, but in my case I think it was caused by the replacement mustang bridge, and wouldnt have been an issue with a proper Jag bridge like this has.

Price on squiers is nuts atm. Saw a Jagmaster on sale for more than they cost new. I remember those sitting round unsellable at music shops 15 years ago.

Re: Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
So turns out guy on facebook with the squier I'm keen on "Auckland" means "Waiheke" and he's not the most responsive. Guess I've had so many good easy gear trades from here I'm just not ready to deal with the great unwashed.

Re: Wanted: Cheap Tele/JM/Jag
Thanks for the offer. Not really looking for a solution, just taking a moment to both have a whinge & call out how great it is dealing with the fine folks round here. Like the freemasons, only with more guitars and less goats.
