They make big claims about the Golden Boy. Reckon the pedal lives up to it?

I really like it. I've had a Wampler Ego previously which was very good, but the Bloom adds a lot - separate 3 band EQ and a (rampable) boost. There are 6 different compressor algorithms including a double compressor for mega-sustain. And it's built like a tank.

I really like it too. Havn't tried a Wampler but had an Origin Cali Dlx to a/b with. The Cali to my ears was just on a whole other level by comparison but that being said I have moved it on and kept the Bloom. As Conway said it covers a few bases and while it may not be up to the same audiophile standard as the Cali it does the job adequately and requires less brain power to use. Lets face it guitarists don't really need a studio grade comp on their boards just something simple that does the job and the Bloom does.

I've had Philosphers Tone standard, germanium, micro versions of both and Philosophers Rock. I like them. Would place them pretty much one par with Wampler Ego and any of the various Keeleys. But that is a level below the Bloom.

I've also had a Cali76 and didn't like it as much. To me, that is an end-of-chain spit and polish pedal to give a "produced" sound, not an effects type compressor.

The only other one I've tried that I think is on par with the Bloom is the Drybell Unit 67, which is on my #2 board.

Actually, the Foxpedal Refinery ver.2 is very good too. But it doesn't have the EQ section that the Bloom and Unit 67 have.

Awesome, thanks Conway, yeah the cali is based on a studio compressor which makes me think its more for that finishing touch kind of thing, must check out some demos of the bloom then, not that I'll buy one, way outta my price range

I reckon it does, such a great pedal, pairs well with toobs and amp sims like the Iridium and HX Stomp
