I use ring finger and glass. Looking to switch to a brass slide soon however, trying to find a bit more fatness. Really tough to play slide with low action but can be done

My favourite is a thin wall carbon steel chrome piece recycled from a coffee table leg. It's bones lurk under the work bench, must cut out another. Worn on pinky for my cat scratching, fret donging messy moments of ghost notes etc.

I always wonder how you get on with vibrato using something heavy.

I use a brass slide on my pinky. It is easier to control than glass, because it is thin, and it leaves other fingers free for 3-finger chords. This works for me on songs where I need to be able to do some slide, but then quickly change to chords or lead. The brass pinky slides are neat enough that they don't get in the way of regular playing, so you don't have to try to take them off in the middle of a song...

But I'd really like to go full Derek Trucks, and learn to play slide on a guitar tuned to E. Hmmm, I'll start tonight :-)

You're in Welly? I have another copy you can borrow. No, I didn't buy 2 of them, Whitcoulls sent 2, a long long time ago. I'll have a look through it and see if there is anything I can take from it and then pass it on if you like.

I like the sound of a metal slide, but glass means you can see that your finger is where it ought to be, which therefore sounds better. Or maybe I just need to practise more.

Just stumbled across Jack Pearson. Surprised I'd never heard of him. Some really nice slide playing.

Not good, to be fair. I don't mind when I've not got work the next day.

Watched some Sean Costello, Josh Smith and Jack Pearson. There's an open jam thing locally tonight so I'm hoping to show my face and check it out. Not sure if I'm taking gear yet.

I can heartily recommend a combination of CBD oil and a couple of magnesium tablets.
