Re: FS Avri Tele
Such a nice guitar, cool that it went to someone here. Everytime I see AVRI, I think of Avril Lavigne's signature Tele which actually looks pretty sweet minus that 12th fret inlay.

Re: FS Avri Tele
Never had a Nocaster before. I'd always assumed they would sound like any other Tele but not quite apparently. It's often written that a good LP sounds like a Tele on Steroids. Nah these things sound like a Tele on steroids. Bigger, bolder, rude and aggressive when you dig in. Extremely dynamic.
Great sounding gat but you'd expect for the price it would stay in tune for longer than five minutes ( strings appear to be sticking under the retainer on the headstock )

Graphite. And maybe polish the underside of the retainer?Dharmajester wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 1:59 pmNever had a Nocaster before. Re: FS Avri Tele
Yeah, I wondered why it stunk of hedge trimmer lanolin spray when it arrived. The round string retainers on the 50's models have little channels on the underside through which the E and B strings run. I've previously had good results by putting a taller washer underneath, reducing the amount of string depression.Slowy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 2:03 pmGraphite. Had a thought; how about a thin silicone washer between the retainer and the strings?Dharmajester wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 2:15 pm

That'd do it, now I just need to find a silicone washer shopSlowy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 10:31 pmHad a thought; how about a thin silicone washer between the retainer and the strings?Dharmajester wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 2:15 pm

Currently just running the B and E free ( above ) of the retainer with considerably more stable tuning than utilising it.
