Yamaha SA50 - Freedom or crucifixion?

Post by smallface »

Hey guys, I've had this Yamaha SA50 at home for about 15 years now. From what I can work out it's about 1970 - 1972.
All my plans to resurrect this have continually put on the back burner.
And I can't devote any time to it to be honest
Everything works, but a stumbling block for me is that at some stage of it's life (well before I owned it) it was stolen and the serial number scratched off the fingerboard.
I have tried and tried to see if there was a trail of ownership but have not been able to come up with anything. No trail at all.

I'm looking to sell this on to someone who may wish to restore this old girl to her former glory. Hoping for about $400.

Hoping not be be flamed for this, but looking to see if there's any interest or advice as what you would do.

Cheers

I climbed on the back of a giant albatross which flew through a crack in the cloud to a place where happiness reigned all year round and music played ever so loudly

Yip, the one who likes crazy horns and shorty shorts is happy :D
I will post pics once I have done the refret, redone the pots and wiring and a general spit and polish. That'll be around Christmas I think.

How about the serial no. Dunno what you can do about that, hard to trace another owner once its gone.

Agree, I'll have a look inside the 'cavity'... sometimes people write their name inside. Smallface did a fair amount of tracing, incl checking with police, when he realised why the fretboard was scalloped at the end.

I doubt you can do anymore than that.
