Help me out bass players... would this be a good first bass for someone who is a guitarist not a bassist? What’s the pickup like? Only one - limiting? Need some guidance because just being nice and blue doesn’t quite get it over the line.

Fair enough, makes sense.

I don’t have calipers, so not sure how to measure accurately.

Eyeballing it very unscientificly, looks about 21mm at the neck and 23 at the 12th fret.

It’s the chunkiest neck on any of my guitars, frets look on the big side too, but still not as far as Bender’s old Radian paulownia tele.

You can do a lot with one pickup on a bass. Fender Precision only has one. So many tones by fingering in a different place (fnarr fnarr)
I would say yes it would be a good first bass. and dibs when you get sick of it and I have some cash!

Damn, i decided I want that Epiphone SG, only to discover it is a dredge thread. I’ll call dibs in case it is still in the family somewhere.
