I’ve had great experiences in the Wellington store - could be that I’m usually making a bee-line for the bass section and they seem to have a bunch of folks that are also keen on the low end there. Dude that runs the place and the KBB dude are really
top notch
top notch

Hah, so guilty of this in IT too, when ever we talk training it’s alway industry skills, and we get CVs full of it too.NZRS-Dave wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 2:59 pmOh right. Yes.
-We always have someone at the counter to greet people. And for store security.
-We try to check in on 'just browsing' customers.
-We try to get the phone in three rings.
-We try to make sure we open a few minutes before our opening time. And we generally shut late if we have to.
-We don't allow offensive material on the in house music. And we try to keep the metal to a minimum as that can be hit n miss on some people.
-We shouldn't eat / drink behind the counter / in the store - but even I do that one.
It’s really the soft skills that matter though. I can get all the tech info I need online, what I need in store is customer service that makes me feel like they want me to be there and buy something. Not that I’m an inconvenience that is keeping them from flicking tracks on their iPod or whatever.

I work in an industry where training means learn as you go.
Would it be OJT like of old? Not so much as it's a lot of google and sporadic moments of finding someone else that may have used the toll I'm using otherwise it's a plod along without formal training cause it's too expensive for my company but that plodding along picking up pieces when I'm supposed to be a professional and its associated costs are passed onto the customer.
It annoys the crap out of me and I make it known.
I'll no doubt be out of a job soon from pissing off to many figures higher up the ladder than me.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but in support of the guys in Wellington Rock Shop, I've found them to be good enough and understand the limitations they face.
I'd be no good in the Rock Shop unless they made me historical reference man.

And I’d def say my local rock shop lads are golden.

Ironically the PRS SE has been returned to us. I think ... I think someone said it was discarded in a some bushs some distance from the shop.
Nothing so far that leads us back to the other guitars.
Yup - that's me and my pal Steve or little stevie vai as I like to call him. In Auckland airport when I was 26. I'm not 26 anymore.
