STATES - 'Relentless' (forum member content)
So, Nik aka Zaulkin and myself are very proud to share the stuff we've been working on in our band STATES in the last year. Our single Relentless will drop next week, and we'll post links here once done.
It's been a time time coming because of the covid lockdowns breaking up the time between when we recorded (June/July 2020) and shot the video (November 2020) before finally getting the finished products.
We've got a gig coming up at the end of March in Auckland, and the video will release a few days before then. Would love to hear some thoughts once we get them out, so watch this space.

Thanks bro - will be keen to hear your thoughts!
Was indeed recorded, mixed + mastered by Zorran.
Guitar wise, I used my PRS Holcomb >> Splawn into an iso-cab for the rhythm gain tracks, though we also layered it using Z's Axe FX, set on the Mesa Mk.V sim from memory using an Ibanez RGAIX6FM (which was so good I bought it off Zorran! ) for all my stuff.
You'll also love the fact we went back our ol' mate from back in the (last!) days for the clean sections - DSL100! Crazy how good the clean is on that thing, especially on the middle position/coil tapped on the PRS.
Nik used his Suhr and an Axe FX patch we concocted on the day - he can probably give better context.

Axe FX wise.......an original Standard, Ultra, II or III? Stock or 3rd party cab IR's or not sure?
Is it just you on rhythm or did both you and Nik double track rhythm guitars? so like 4 total rhythm tracks?
dude, the DSL, such a classic. still miss those amps. would love to own another one day.

Zorran used his AxeFX II for Reuben and mine was done with my old AX8.
Pretty sure they were stock cabs - mine definitely was because I saved the patch to use later.
I used my Suhr Modern. Hearing it in that environment (top quality monitors and a great sounding room) was such a treat. It's mindblowing how good it was - I remember it so vividly.

I know attention spans are getting shorter but man that was short
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: STATES - 'Relentless' (forum member content)
Nice bro! So if you were being hyper critical......on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not noticeable in sound and feel and 10 being completely night and day difference).......how different is the FM3 to the AX8? Hearing how your AX8 sounded in the recording process for this track, and how it sounds mixed now.....do you think you would have ended up with a "better" result if you had your FM3 at the time? Curious minds need to knowZaulkin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 3:39 pmZorran used his AxeFX II for Reuben and mine was done with my old AX8.
