Yes. Went through a stage of using an Octava LDC for live. I also discovered a slightly weird Audio Technica mic which is actually a medium diaphragm which is cool toomr_sooty wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 10:41 pmYeah well as I say my LDC sounds way better than my 57 for recording, but I chickened out of using it at practice tonight. Have you used an LDC on your guitar live at all?rickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 10:03 pm I don't know why people are so strong on the idea that dynamic mics are the way to go on guitars. I very much like LDC's on guitar amps.

Oh sweet, I should really give it a go. You didn't have any issues with it picking up extra background noise? I've found the SM57 sounds a lot better if you pull it back from the grille a couple of inches. Sounded pretty good through my in ears last night.

No, it seemed OK. The mic a few inches back is a good trick and usually sounds good.
