I covered a Smashing Pumpkins tune :)
Decided to have a crack at doing a cover. This being my first, it was really more of a distraction so I could avoid writing lyrics for an original song im working on.
I'm a big Pumpkins fan from way back and really enjoy their dabbling's in electronic stylings, like the Adore era which this song is from.
The track is called "Pug". Had lots fun with the guitars for this track, I was going for that early 2000's wall of distortion thing....not sure I achieved it but damn it was fun layering! haha

Adore was the first album I bought, on cassette. Was hugely disappointed because I just wanted more Mellon Collie . But I've enjoyed it much more looking back.
This sounds awesome. You nailed the feel. Did you track everything from scratch? There's so much going on!

Yeah I tracked it all from scratch, with the exception of the drum loop which i ended up finding the midi pattern for online. So i used that as the foundation for the main percussion track using Superior Drummer and then sampled a loop of the original drum track and used it to reinforce the drums.
Everything else is tracked the old fashioned way lol. Playing guitars, bass, synths. Its not a particularly technical or tricky song to play but getting the “vibe” and feel was way harder! Billys unique vocals really suit this sort of sound.
Dude, i tell ya, again in typical fashion I overdid everything!! I know what you mean about so much going on. There are 16 guitar tracks playing at once in the ending! Haha

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie are my favs. Today is probably my favourite track.
Your cover is really good.
Your cover is really good.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
