yeah me too! iirc he was one of the first people to adopt the Axe FX. he sold his VH4 to buy one.

yeah bro pretty much! the drums are a combination of 3 "parts". the first part is a programmed drum part using EZDrummer. i found the song midi and extracted the percussion parts and then tweaked them a bit. i just went for something in a similar vein. the second part is a looped sample of the actual song, with a plugin applied that "removes" other elements of the track. so solo'd it sounds pretty thin and distorted which actually sounds cool in the mix. the 3rd part is another sample of the actual track but kept "full fidelity" and mixed low in the track. just to help re-enforce the other parts.

oh yeah almost forgot, the kick and snare are also triggering additional "beef/support" samples.
