Kemper recording

Post by Olderama »

Hi All

I'm looking at setting up a little space for recording with the kemper (similar to Jeremy's)
Any kemper dudes had any success recording to reaper and what equipment did you use
I've had ago this arvo with my Alesis io2 but it wasn't as easy as I thought so might have to upgrade to something a bit better
Also need a pair of studio monitors
Any recommendations ?

I recorded to Logic via a focusrite scarlette model I had at the time. I used SPDIF because it made remapping easy.

If I can do it, anyone can. I suck at DAW.

Just a random Fortin profile
I'm making a concerted effort to ramp up my recording skills as I have lots of ideas but never record them

I'm running out of the monitor out into the interface and I'm getting a signal ect and getting sound through my headphones
But I'm having issues getting the sound onto a track
I did a workaround by adding a vst and it seemed to work but its a bit complicated

Kinda hard to explain really

What interface are you using and are you running w10 ?

Cheers

Theres a couple of ways to do it, if you have a gain control on the inputs on your interface then run one of the outputs into one of the inputs, set the gain so its peaking at -18db at the most, don't want it getting into the red...

The other option which is what I tend to do that with the recording out on the Katana, set the gain on the interface as low as possible and then set the amp volume to hit the db level I want in reaper.

im using an rme
i have the kemper outs going to inputs 3 and 4 in rme
create track in reaper... select inputs 3 and 4
select input monitor ( the red button on the track)
with input monitor selected you should see acivity on the meter?
