Re: Jays' BBs
Since MikeC mentioned his 9.2 pound Tele, got me thinking, how much does yours weigh with the neck and tuners?

Re: Jays' BBs
Since you asked, I recalculated current total weight and I am coming to 2877 gr without finish and allowing 20 grams for strings. That is 6.34 pounds.
Anything around 3KG I find comfy to carry

Re: Jays' BBs
Billy Gibbons has got a les Paul with a hollowed out neck and body. You should try a hollowed out neck on this one

Re: Jays' BBs
I just weighed my MIM strat, Eastman SB56, and Eastman T484. They're around 3.6, 3.6, and 3.2 respectively. I'm okay with those values. If I'm lucky the Tele will come out around there.

Re: Jays' BBs
Let's say lighter in the middle, darker near the edge and then some blotted transfer area in between

You prefer blotted to smeared; as a look, I mean?
Don't talk to me about failure; sometimes I even fail to disappoint myself.

Re: Jays' BBs
Of course he does.....

Edit: Just a thought... A hollowed out Lester sounds like a carbon fibre project to me.
Wouldn't that be an interesting thing....a Lester built like a Parker Fly.

Probably a combination due to lack of control.
How you find that orange/reddish/brownish sample? That is my preference atm

So glad you called it violin burst because that is what I am sort of aiming for.
I think you and I have made an executive decision here

Re: Jays' BBs
I am just posting these two photos for my own gratification
So the body now has had a good first sanding. Took the dust off with a damp cloth which brings out the grain as well.
While waiting for the binding router bit to arrive, I am going to string it up and drill the bridge plate holes.
I really like the natural look so far, would look good with the yellowish binding that is going on.
Just hope I don't stuff up the colour finish.
