The gloss didn't want to come up, so bought a new tin of briwax teak oil. Coming up now. Two or three more coats after this should do it.
The back is slightly more of a 'sunset burst', ie, got a bit more red and yellow, while the front is more of antique violin which is what I was aiming for.

Curious about the binding, is that standard width? It looks pretty wide in the photo showing purfling over the back block. I hope that makes sense, I don't think I'm using the right words.

That was standard 8mm wide Stewmac binding which you can glue in at whatever height you want and scrape the rest off. I glued mine in at 7mm height and lost 1mm to level it with surface of top and back. The little joiner to mask where the two sides join is 8mm wide.
Body depth is 45mm of which 14mm comprises binding. Not sure if that is a lot but I like it.
I was also 'forced' to use 7mm of binding because of the thickness of the wood of top and back

Just checked on a few guitars from the seventies. On my Yamahas it is 5mm, on Ibanez 6mm. Which makes sense as their pressed tops and backs are no more than 5mm thick.
? I know of members here that speak of old guitar smell with passion and its got me wondering
