Not fret related but really enjoyed watching the dramatisation of your countryman Klippenberg in 'the serpent' mini series about Charles Subhraj.
Particularly enjoyed the belgian diplomat referring to the dutch as 'klogies'.
Definitely worth a watch.

The only correlation I can see here is that you possibly, just possibly, could hammer the frets in with clogs...

Removing frets sideways? Absolutely.

Installing them sideways? No thanks, and really, not required.

I’ve removed many frets from the side...from old Fenders of course. No mess. Do it with anything where the frets have come in from the top and it’s going to deliver tragic results

I've seen either Fender factory footage or just images somewhere showing them doing it, they made it look easy! But surely pressing them in from the top and then pushing them sideways is going to just cause the tangs to cut grooves both horizontally and vertically in the slot making the fret looser?

So when removing them sideways, is the likely chip out on the side of the neck less than that from the top? I did a refret with SS frets recently and had a bit of a mare with chipout. Most of it I didn't notice as the wood had chipped but the bits hadn't moved until I wiped the board down. Fixed up ok with dust and CA in the end though.

If any of you budding luthiers would like some clogs to try the technique mentioned earlier I have a selection of authentic vintage dutch footwear from which I can supply...
