My wife being Dutch insists on using one of these. Strikes me as a failing in their education, as in proper use of a knife...Jay wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 3:00 pm
Proper dutch one, thin edge and reasonably sharp so it actually slices without too much effort. Makes for generous, consistent thickness slices that look really good on your toast. It is all about looks, right? Try the dutch cumin cheese and you will love it...
Slice, dress and eat it all in super short pants, and you are away to happiness (or may be one step away from it)

Sensible woman, if only I could get her indoors to listen to me and NOT use the knife. It is such an unsightly look... the top of the cheese almost looking like the waves on corrugated iron. Yes, we are an uncouth, uneducated, guttural sounding lot.Dharmajester wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 9:38 amMy wife being Dutch insists on using one of these. Whether or not your partners use the correct implement, or can use a multi purpose tool in a manner befitting the task, is minor.Jay wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 11:58 amSensible woman, if only I could get her indoors to listen to me and NOT use the knife. I'm married to an Irish woman who can't cook a potato, in any form whatsoever. That is a true failure in education.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

I use one of those wire cheese cutters, so much superior!

Superior to my caliper? If I could have made the JB meeting this Saturday, I would have brought some cheese and THE slicer to compare to any others...
Sadly I won't be there

Building up the tinted coats. 4 on this now, 4 to go, then final two thick coats of clear.

I think that looks perfect. I love the way the grain is still visible. But I'm certainly no expert on what it should look like. Will you still see this if you add one more coat?

Re: 1959 Les Paul Junior Build
Oh yeah, no worries with that. The only thing is, IRL the colour is slightly more white-ish. What we want to see is a wheat colour under direct sunlight. Every coat I'm checking for whether it's right or not. Maybe 4 more is too much...we'll find out soon. It's def not quite there just yet.olegmcnoleg wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 4:09 pmI think that looks perfect. I love the way the grain is still visible. Side note - StewMac were very cool about my suggestions to them for the fret calculator, and indeed recognised that at face value it doesn't deal with the physics I described earlier...that is, the 628mm scale length does not equal 314mm at the 12th fret. They will be changing their disclaimer and making clearer how to get the intonation better. Yay.
