Just noticed the binding on the neck too - WOW - you must have to be very precise to achieve that result.

Looking good Lawrence. Where did you get your dyed veneer? I was going to do the same on a 3 piece neck as well! You binding on the board looks great - nice mitred joints. Real bastard about the headstock - but like Jay suggests is there the ability to steam the top piece off and reapply a new one and a backstrap?

The veneers come from Luthier Mercantile International> They have lots of good stuff...but the freight can be a killer!

Good to know. I was thinking of getting some from the guy from the Waikato somewhere who sells veneers on trademe and staining them, but not sure how that would look once sanded on the edge.

Sadly it all went astray.

Some how in between the design and the build I moved the Tuners - due to the screw position being slightly different....and it now has seriously incorrect string spacing. I only discovered this when I first strung it this week. Once I finish it - which is held up on some knobs arriving....you will see the result. To get around it Ive currently got the E and A string winding backwards...and actually only peeps like yo would notice anyway...

This is what happens when everything is a prototype and you cant always get the same hardware!

Could you do something like this (but in reverse for you I guess) to reroute the strings just past the nut, before they get to the pegs, to straighten the pull?

I do try to be original...but I do confess this shape is "inspired by" a rather interesting guitar from the 70's...This gat is smaller all round and Ive tweaked a bit . Challenge everybody to identify the inspiration.

Obviously I didn't use fender style Pickups - I used 2 mini P90s and a miniHumbucker....

Still: 6 distinct tones from 1 toggle switch.
