Putting binding on a tele
Is anyone set up to rout a tele body for binding on the top. Could I ask you please to do this for me, in return for beer/parts/hand shandies?
Also, does anyone have any binding, please? Cream or white.

Re: Putting binding on a tele
Are you doing it to a new unfinished body or an existing one? I had this done by Lostinverness (Grant) once on a Tele and it can be very tricky. It depends on how much round over the edge already has if it can be done.
Went from the red one to black one!

Re: Putting binding on a tele
I would say an experienced person would be able to do it but don’t think I’d be giving to my home handyman mate!werdna wrote:Finished, with typical amount of edge round.
You got a pic of the front edge?
I’m sure someone else here would be able to advise better than me.

Re: Putting binding on a tele
Completely irrelevant but I once saw how Music Man do binding. When the body is still just a square slab they cut a channel and pour in the material that'll eventually be the binding. Once it sets they cut the body out with the usual CNC-type stuff and there it is, already bound. Cool way of doing it I guess but not one you could replicate on an existing body, so I'll just get me coat...

Re: Putting binding on a tele
Just get a roll of white electrical tape from the supermarket and run it around the edge, job done!

Put a photo up of the tele you want butchered... How relicked is it?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

you may find that it still doesn't work properly depending on how thick the binding is. Normal width is still not thick enough to manage the round over.Bg wrote:Very happy to do it... bearing in mind we'll need these

You're right chaps. Lots of times I wish Adrian was around with that limitless supply of guitar bodies. I should just go out and get a Texas Tea Tele Ultra, but I am too Scottish.
