Ocd more likely.

Older boards have a reputation for bias drift and other issues related to conductive boards. Probably a bad reputation relating to the minority of amps but it was a cheap upgrade and I really like the amp so figured it was worth it.

NNOOOOOOO .... blue might be the worst colour fo a guitar ever (sorry Conway) .. I think a ceruse finish might be a good option here?

Ceruse is a finishing methodology as I understand it to bring out the grain. It doesn't preclude colours. See below example of a ceruse finish:

Edit - just reading that, one should not use ceruse on softwoods, which this top is... So that one is out then.

meh anything is possible ... with technique a ceruse finish with soft wood is doable .... just use fine steel brushes to bring up the grain


NOTE I have never done a ceruse finish so just ignore me ... so want to do one. I bought some pine (yes a soft wood) to try one on so will see how it goes

Workbench was a computer for a long, little while...

Spend quite a few hours on working out how to fix 3x3 tuners on a Corvette type offset headstock (which has a 2x4 design). I think I finally have something that may work with my chosen machine heads, while retaining perfect straight strings through the nut to the tuners... See CAD snapshot below - obviously it won't have the Gretsch logo.

Today I created first a soft template, then a hard template, then a test headstock...
Drilled the 10mm holes in about 6 steps and inserted the tuners. It is going to work (even the D string tuner will freely turn).

That's cool! I like the asymmetry. Nice design!

I looked at so many headstocks and in the end decided to bastardise the Gretsch Corvette one to a 3x3. And yes, it is totally asymmetrical, angles, curves, etc
