Re: What's on your work bench?
Thought it was about time I posted to this thread... I'm very slow at DIY projects and I don't have a workshop, or much skill TBH.
Recap from above: I got an MJT body from off the forum a couple of years ago, and have been ageing / relicing it in the sun. It decided where the paint should come off, not me, I just went with it--it is quite a liberal paint shredder. It also got kicked along the deck, and trodden on, by a visiting builder, but he was probably being helpful.
I'm quite pleased with how it is turning out, might be time to make it up into a Strat again... I don't think it will lighten up much more
BEFORE
AFTER
I've aged all the hardware with a vinegar fume bath, reliced a Warmoth neck (with the wrong number of frets, but I'm not so much of a purist that I care). So I just need to drop in the Lollar Dirty Blonds wired to a ToneShaper harness and screw it all back together. Should be finished in another 12 months or so then

Maple came from a place in the USA, sent it before I paid for it which was a shame as I could have got 2 sets sent for the same price, unbelievably it's his B stock and was US$17 before bookmatch cutting & shipping

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Re: What's on your work bench?
Reshaping the neck from Neanderthal chunky to Homo Sapiens chunky. So far reduced the 'girth' at 1st fret by 4mm and 6th fret by 1mm.
I checked the 'girth' table and this neck is now slightly less chunky than someone's telecaster made by Adrian... Still a bit to go though.

Re: What's on your work bench?
Very pleased with the new neck shape and feel. Still chunky but allows for good access up to 12th fret. I sanded it up to 1200 grit and no finish applied yet.
Amazing feel moving your hand over that unfinished, smooth neck...

Re: What's on your work bench?
A telecaster made from korina, would that be?
I've got used to it, only issue is it makes my other guitars feel like I'm playing a rounded off fretboard that someone glued a headstock to.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.
