On the bench is this Squier. Here for a tidy up, new strings and setup for a new learner/ owner. Just interested to see what you guys think the timber is. Its an Indo manufactured one and apparently the "S" in the serial means its a Special Run.
Just doesnt look to be the usual basswood alder agathis type woods of cheapo Squiers... Possible mahogany of some description ? Any wisdom to share ?

I don't know but it looks the same as an old Tokai Strat I used to own. I never got on with it but I sold it to a mate who happily gigged it for 20 years before replacing it with a Suhr.

It's hard, looking at this to see why it took every weekend for 3 months. But there was a deck and a jungle there before, the Boy now knows enough to do the next one on his own and I'd be happy for any chippie to run a microscope over it.
Plus we had a great father/son summer.

Call it a win then.

I can hear them crying "feed me, Seymour" from here.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

Fretboard edges 'rolled'. Love the new feeling of this neck...
Amazing what 2 gram material removal can do!

I installed some 1978 Maxon U1000 pickups in my Greco today (same pickup as Ibanez Super 70), and also changed the wiring to something a bit more interesting.

Instead of the usual vol and tone for each pup like the classic LP setup, I've wired it so now it's:

Volume for neck
Volume for bridge
Master treble cut (bridge tone)
Master bass cut (neck tone)

Surprisingly useful.
