You won't hear much plugging an amp into the socket of that circuit, except the frying of output transformers. That circuit is to allow an external cab to be connected to the amp, not an amp to be connected to the internal speaker.
Just shorting the output of the internal amp would be safe enough when using the speaker with an external amp. Fender have done this for years on many of their older amps.

Never seen this before and it works a treat! So now, as well as a functioning AC4 I have a Jansen powered 1x10 Greenback cab. Tight, midrange focus, not too much bass and when pushed, much louder than I expected and an all round useful addition to the collection.
