Nah this one's the 40w on a 350mm chassis. I'll be making the 100w steel string singer #002, the one that John mayer uses. I'll make a start once I get the chassis end of this month.NZTone.e wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:52 pmMarshmallow wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 7:34 pm Two more weeks til the rest of the parts arrive. Have populated 80% of it. In the mean time I'll work on the other stuff.
So are you making a 100w version of your two rock Dumble circuit?

Re: Marshmallow's build thread
Had a bit of time again today and I made a bit of progress with the mini 40W amp. The power section is all wired up. I'm planning to mount the preamp to the chassis tomorrow. Once mounted, I'll wire as much as I can on the preamp. Have a feeling this is going to be pretty packed.

Re: Marshmallow's build thread
Couldn't do much the past 2 days but this is what it looks like with the parts laid out. It's going be very similar to an sss/jm now. Should I start posting videos of my previous amps? Not the best quality but it should be fine.

Re: Marshmallow's build thread
Great. I'll start with the 3W Amp. The guy from japan who bought this sent a video earlier this year. He's running a small amount of reverb and delay through the front end of the amp. It's a simple circuit, great for bedroom use and pedals. It has clean and dirt channels and is an original circuit, not based on any existing designs. I have yet to make this into a 20w then a 50w.
Simple controls. Volume, Tone, Gain - Switches are bright, boost and dirt. 8 ohms out.

Yup he was using clean at break up. It gets pretty gainy with the dirt channel but not too gainy where you lose clarity.

What sort of coin do you build an amp like that one for?Marshmallow wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 2:50 pm Great. I'll start with the 3W Amp. Re: Marshmallow's build thread
The next up is 10W Custom Reverb amp. It's a bit tricky to describe. Would really prefer people to play through it. It has a slightly raw, hairy tone, more on the classic side. High in mids like dumble but less compression. It runs KT77/El34/6L6 tube single-ended design and a tube spring reverb and very rich in harmonics. The controls are simple: gain, treble, middle, bass, master, reverb return, and send (back). It also has an 8-ohm output and switches for Bright, Preamp Boost, and Deep.
Warren playing through the amp during Jam session. I believe he has the guitar volume quite low on this one.
Me playing through it on higher gain settiing. Pretty much just the amp and amp reverb.

Re: Marshmallow's build thread
With this size we're usually looking at 500-700ish. But pretty much let this one go for cheap. Haven't built one in NZ so I wouldn't know the cost .
