Righto, an update of sorts. Have sold 3 more SRTs recently including my first to the USA (Ebay ad). Wanted this one to go like clockwork for all the reasons. I got me a DHL credit account but the freight cost is still hellish. So, built a 120VAC version, tested it for hours and freighted it to Alaska. Freight was worse than I calculated so I will be lucky to break even. The amp arrived with the new owner today but has been damaged in transit, fuck. I can't believe it, chassis ends are bent, tube shields are squashed and front panel is chipped. It must have been a seriously heavy crush injury and I'm extra glad I got it insured. It was a completed chassis but sans tubes, reverb tank & footswitch so no glass fragments at least. So the new owner plugged in a bunch of tubes and fired it up & it still runs which is good news. It's a tough road to being a tube amp mogul, more lessons learned...

Yep, just what I didn't want. I might be able to spin it though... "DHL dropped the amp over Alaska at 30,000 feet and it survived apart from a few small dents..."

Well, an interesting chat I’ve just had with Bill, the builder of Optimus Prime.

He’s been telling me for a while that he hasn’t got time to build an amp so was looking around for something that piqued his interest…we’re chatting away, he’s telling me about this amp he’s bought, then I clicked, it’s a Sixty-One SRT!

It’s very exciting, firstly, because I’ll get to have a good thrash on one, and secondly, because Bill says Mike’s build is as good as any boutique amp makers build he’s ever seen!

How cool is that, well done Mike!

He’s been telling me for a while that he hasn’t got time to build an amp so was looking around for something that piqued his interest…we’re chatting away, he’s telling me about this amp he’s bought, then I clicked, it’s a Sixty-One SRT!

It’s very exciting, firstly, because I’ll get to have a good thrash on one, and secondly, because Bill says Mike’s build is as good as any boutique amp makers build he’s ever seen!

Will do! Yes... I paid extra for insurance (it cost me/the purchaser over $400.00 to ship to Alaska) but am still working through it with DHL's insurer. The damage & cost will hopefully be a "break even" situation but what you never get back is the 'effing about time, repeating yourself, filling out forms, getting photos blah blah blah. Oh well, sigh... This one was an Ebay sale too so not a good start I'm afraid.

bill was very excited about it, waxing lyrical as it were!

He’s got Optimus, installing a footswitchable boost and a passive fx loo…boost because it will be handy, fx loop because it’s easy to do and adds flexibility etc.
