1 x 8" cab build

Post by jeremyb »

I figured the speaker I pulled out of my Laney Cub 8 could be useful so I'm building a small cab for it to use with the incoming Orange Terror Stamp pedal amplifier... Today I picked up some 18mm ply and 24x24mm pine to make the cab, as well as some speaker grill cloth from jaycar... going to pop into spotlight to get some nice green vinyl to use as tolex, job should be a goodun, progress pics to come!

Have to say, you'll be able to drive a tank over that....

Glued and screwed or Glued and nailed - looks like nails? Either way get those below the point where your rounding cutter is going to hit, else thats one roundover cutter fucked. And for the big one I use for marshalls and 18 mm ply, thats 50 bucks down the toilet.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Yeah its a lesson you learn once. And a router cutter shattering at 20,000 rpm is not something you want to happen. When I've done similar joints, I've glued and screwed, then when dry remove the screws and redrill for dowels. Just as strong and don't fuck with your router.

Having a break to cook dinner, have cut the baffle to size and after tea will cut the speaker hole and get some black paint on it, tempted to use the fence stain we have but worried it may stink, hmmmm I will sniff fence first!
