Unsponsored product shoutout.

Post by Slowy »

Long ago, I decided to use heads rather than combos. It was based in both an ignorance and curiosity of the sonic and dynamic influences of different speakers.

I ended up with 1x12 cabs built by me from parts supplied by DC. I painted them with this stuff; ( black obviously.... they seem to be out of it at the moment)

This finish is perfection for working cabs. At a glance from a meter, it looks like vinyl, but this surface could survive armageddon. I mean it, mine were painted 4 years ago and have been schlepped, dragged and dropped ever since and there isn't a mark on them. Anywhere.

Brilliant stuff!

That's amazing. I've often wondered about this stuff. If any of my cabs tolex peels too much, I'll just pull it all off and use this stuff.

It's fabulous stuff. I redid my 412 in duratex.

It also now comes in little tins instead of the plastic bags which is a great move.

What the camera does illustrate is my incredibly shoddy application technique.
I slapped this on in 10 minutes with minimal preparation. If I knew then how durable it is, I would have prepped the cab better.
Still, you're looking at the effect of 4 years being lugged around.

I was looking at this stuff a couple of years ago. At the time I'm sure a small test kit, enough for a small cab was around $14. Now it's $55....
