Is it a camera or is it an amp?

Post by Shimmer »

So here is my little project. I put together a Ruby 9v Amp http://www.runoffgroove.com/ruby.html and housed inside an old Kodak Box Brownie camera. I tried to preserve as much of the camera as I could. Installed an on/off switch next to where the filters sit, an led behind the lens in the aperture, and gain/volume pots in the view finders. Runs off a 9v battery, or from an external DC jack. The on-board speaker is a small (3 in ?) Sony ripped out of some old book shelf speakers. It sounds raspy, so I also put in a speaker out (hooked up to my Vox cab, it sound great!). Absolutely stoked with how it turned out. 99% finished - just keeping a look out for a old style speaker grill for the side.
(Photos are progress pics - first photo is the camera before the conversion)

That's really cool. Love the concept.

That hidden red LED reminds me of HAL 9000.
Nothing to see here.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Cool.

Now put a small digital camera in it.

And in that camera... you know what to do.
