Another ODS build..and a trainwreck

Post by Marshmallow »

Just another D-mble update. Pretty sure everyone is sick of seeing D-mble builds by now. + T-wreck express.

Since the the last #102 went to miniforklift, decided to have another for myself with a similar build quality to the JM amp. Instead of using F&T, It's using IC caps.
ODS: This is the RF model. This amp has been modded and slightly simplified (FET CIRCUIT REMOVED). also tried a different layout of components. Will upload more photos tonight. 6l6 50w with 25w half power switch..FW ETC..

T-wreck: Currently have the chassis and waiting for the other parts to be avail.

Also planning a Tweed ODS build in the next few months. Schematic -currently handwritten.

Haven't had the chance to properly play it out today but it fired up the first time without issues. I ran out of time last night so I thought i'd leave it for the next day. Will be fine tuning the amp after work.... This means tuning the OD trimmer, Phase inverter trimmer, bias etc to make sure the amp "blooms" as it should and also to maximize the harmonic. The relay board is also mounted to on the chassis rather than on the side like the other dumbles. Diodes mounted on the power board to ease up the maintenance.

Layout is slightly different from the Two rock JM amp. BTW groundwork between the two is completely different as well. Bias trimpot to the left side of the valves. I can reposition this easily if I find it inconvenient.

I think F&T have the "pedigree/price" but I'm all for caps that are good quality regardless of brand. Some get really picky over "tone" caps but that's another subject :)
