SEAVERB outboard reverb tank thread

So as you've probably garnered I am preparing to build 4 identical outboard spring reverb tanks based on the fender 6g15 schematic. Ive mentioned this in a few threads.
Given this idea is starting to become a reality I thought I'd start a committed thread to the process.

At his point:
1. I have ordered beautiful lacquered tweed cabinetry from BG with oxblood panels and leather handles.

Should come out something like this but with a more aged amber look to the tweed(see below).

2. MikeC has built the doghouse and main circuit board for me with fibre board and turrets. He has a proper turret punch to install them so they wont
be wonky and they wont fall out.

3. Ive ordered the trannis and small parts from mouser and one or two other suppliers

4. The chrome printed chassis and 4ab3c1b tanks are coming from Banzai music in germany

5. Ive drawn a logo for the grill that Sandy and emblems.co.nz is making up (see above).

All things going well ill get to populating the boards and assembling the other chassis components in the next month or so. There is a delay in getting the power transformers due to availability.

The four units I'm making are all-ready spoken for, but I plan to do more dwn the track if this all goes well.

But yes if this is a serious question , the 6g15 circuit particularly with the accutronics tank ( which has a very slap backy sort of drip response, medium long decay and is much tighter and less dark/washy than say the MOD or TAD tanks) gets a supremely satisfying drip. so drippy.

I always use a coaster under these so as to avoid leaving water marks on wood surfaces.

I was waiting on tweed which got caught up in covid delivery fuckups, and last I know strummers was waiting on chassis from the same place. Probably both at the bottom of the sea.

Going to re-order from somewhere else this weekend.

Just picking this VERY OLD thread up again as there is renewed energy a haed of the Bull Kelp Surfers first gig in a bout a century tomorrow...

I have been reverse engineering my tank once again as it differs slightly from online schematics and seems to work very very well. In particular its very quiet function, which I put down to the grounding (Merlins)

I have all the chassis, trannys , toobs and small parts so I will collate everything into four piles then summon the three horsemen of the reverb apocolypse (Ben, Rob and a mysterous moustached Bostonian peda steel player) for a soldering weekend.

You need an "isolated ground" - the chassis ground is isolated from earth but still sufficiently connected for electric shock safety. Its fairly simple but very clever. I initially had the hummmm problem (earth loop) on the Fender 6G15 Reverb unit that I built but eliminated it by implementing the isolated ground scheme. The modern re-issue Fender 6G15 has it built in.
