Very cool. I've also restored one of these recently, it's a great cab. I really like the old 75 watt speakers, they sound pretty damn good for sparkly strat cleans or anything heavily dirty.

Yeah the vented speakers are pretty special. They don't get harsh at the top end like V30s do, no matter what you put into them, they just roll off nice and sparkly. It's pretty amazing how like tolex this stuff looks too.

Thanks man. With more care I would have taken off all the hardware but Marshall use rivets instead of screws or nails so they're pretty tricky to get back on. Eventually I'd like to replace all the corners (there's 3 missing anyway) and get some proper metal handles but it's not essential I guess.

I can totally recommend this era of Marshall cab though. Great speakers in there.

Not for 1960 cabs they don't. Their's are too large.

Yeah according to their specs they're bigger.

Did the screw holes line up for you? The livesound ones have the added benefit of actually being in NZ which is a nice bonus.

Some, but not all of the screws lined up on mine.
I filled them all and made new ones anyway.

IIRC, I had to enlarge the openings for the metal handles, not by much and its a simple task. And just fill the old holes and redrill if you need too - its not rocket science. Metal handles are so much better.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

I have two metal handles here, you're welcome to pick them up and try them for size. Just drop them back when you've checked, they're earmarked for a job. And don't cough on them.

Actually thinking about it, I just used a rasp to enlarge.

Regards corners, you can never get them off without breaking - I managed 3 corners out of eight with extreme care last time. The rivets splay out when they are hammered home, so trying to pull them through the corner is a pita especially as the corners are brittle. I've tried heat and most methods, other than drilling them out - and being very precise and then getting the rest of the rivet out.... Buy new corners and rivets.

I checked their handles ( Penn Elcom ) a while ago and they would as BG says require some cab modification. Ended up with a pair of Scumback handles which do drop straight in. He ships them in a bloody speaker box though so the shipping is excessive. I'd go for cab modification and Livesound if doing it again..

Tight. I like that you've refurbed it and made it look clean, but without that loss of mojo.

Thanks man, that's why I left the grille cloth as is. It tells a story.
