Possible new amp options

Which do you think would be a good for the next project? Since most of the stores are open I think I can get better parts.

Marshall 1959 18W (EL84 PP)
Marshall 1959 18W (6V6 PP)
Marshall 2203 18W (6V6 PP)
Dumble ODS type 18W (6V6 PP)
Matchless DC30 type 5W (EL34 SE)
Matchless DC30 type 18W (EL84M PP)
Cornford Hurricane 2W (6SN7 PP)
Cornford Harlequin 5W (EL84 SE)

I'm thinking a full version of the ods but 18w but dc30 or Marshall sounds good too. Eventually, all will be in my collection 🤣 on the side note, I never had a 6v6..

All sound awesome! You should do a voting poll?
I’d go 18w DC30 or Dumble 18w.
I’ve never liked single ended amps much, just a personal opinion.

Why would they call it Marshall 2203 when that one listed must have 2x 6V6 @18w. The original being equipped with 4x EL34. I'd have thought it no longer able to wear the title of 2203. Same with a JCM800, although not listed there, no longer an 800 if it has EL84, in my mind.
One should suffer brutal volume (and tone) with the real thing.

I’ve got A clone of one of these which is somewhere between an 18watt Vox and Marshall with an EF86. It sounds great!

Hopefully this won't hijack the thread too much but I'm curious about your dislike of single ended amps. May I ask what about them you dislike?

Well I’ve read up a bit and they apparently have more harmonics?
Which seem to clash for me with complex chords.
It’s like when you play with lots of distortion and try and play a full chord, sounds fine but sounds better as a power chord! Kinda like that. I’ve had a few and they all seemed to kinda do the same thing. 5f2a, Champ etc. they have a more raw unrefined sound in my view, great for straight up rock n roll though!
What’s your view?

I don't have one, mainly because I don't know if I have played a single ended amp. I will have to find out about all the amps I have played.

Basically anything low wattage with 1 output tube is probably single ended, have you played many of them?

The only one I know for sure was the AC4. I loved it, especially with a Strat.
